"That-" Kara laughed. "-was the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen."

"I know!" Zak exclaimed. "But it was the best piece of crap. Did you see the way the Zetmotron took out those skyscrapers? That was quality destruction!"

"A monster is not scary if you can kill it with a couple germs. Zetmotron wouldn't last five minutes against--"

Lee wasn't sure if Kara and his brother were speaking Caprican or not, the entire conversation flying right over his head. Apparently this is just what they did every Friday night. His week off in Delphi had been a bizarre experience, spending day in and day out with Zak and his girlfriend. He'd visited on weekends before, come in on Saturday, leave on Sunday, but that didn't compare in the least. Eight days, completely absorbed by Kara Thrace--and Zak too, of course--was an experience he lacked words for.

Kara's apartment was something he did not, however. Pure and simple, it was a dump. The air-conditioning was permanently busted, something in Kara's kitchen had obviously died three months ago and she hadn't found it yet, and he wasn't sure if the thing in the bathroom was supposed to be a toilet or a bidet. He’d taken a hotel room it was so bad, and why they couldn't just hang out there, he didn't know. Right now, he couldn't be bothered to put up an argument about it.

Kara laughed loudly and collapsed backwards into the position she'd been taking up most of the night. Suddenly, he remembered why he was here.

"Lee, tell your brother that he has no idea what he's talking about."

"I... uh... that is..."

An errant piece of popcorn sailed over Kara's head and struck Lee square in the chest. "Forget it, Kara. He wasn't watching," Zak said with a smirk. "I think he's had his eyes on something else tonight."

Lee swallowed hard. "I just don't share your fascination with badly written, low-budget movies about sea monsters from space." And if Kara just so happened to be sprawled in such a way that gave Lee a direct line of sight to her cleavage then that wasn’t his fault.

"That's what these were for," Kara drawled, dangling the remnants of her fourth beer bottle in front of him.

"And besides, it wasn't like either of you were spending too much time with your eyes on the TV." He felt an edge creeping into his voice, but it didn’t seem to bother Zak—he just shrugged it off. Kara was his girlfriend after all.

He considered the contents of the brown bottle in front of him and how he was going back to Caprica City in two days. By the time he looked back up, the two of them had locked lips again.

It wasn't that he didn't love his brother and Kara, but there was something about watching the two of them together--all over each other--well they could at least have the decency to do it while he was not around. Not that he was jealous or anything. Irritated, from sitting in the stifling apartment. "I should really get going."

"Seriously, bro? It's not even ten," Zak whined barely tearing his mouth away from Kara’s. But even the baby brother voice wasn't enough to convince him to stick around for more of this torture.

No, what stopped him was Kara's hand closing over his upper thigh.

"Come on, Lee. The night is young," she said in a low voice. A mischievous sparkle lit up her eyes as they locked onto his. Lee felt a sudden heat pooling low in his groin as she slid her hand up a few inches, approaching dangerous territory. "Besides, we haven't even gotten to the good stuff yet."

Kara swung her legs off Zak's lap and bolted from the couch. He watched as she disappeared into the kitchen, and it didn't take long for him to realize Zak was staring too.

"She's really something, huh?" Zak said in a tone of voice Lee couldn't quite decipher.

"Yeah," Lee murmured.

Zak shook his head. "Sometimes I can't believe how lucky I got, bro."

Lee didn't say anything. He was pretty sure if he opened his mouth, his foot was going to end up in it at that point. Zak looked at him, eyebrow raised, like he was about to go poking around in the wound he'd just opened when Kara arrived with the bottle of Picon whiskey and three shot glass.

"And this is the good part." Triumphant with the spoils of her search, she filled three shot glasses and handed one to both Lee and Zak before taking her own. "It doesn't get much better than this, boys."

When they all slammed down their shots, some dribbled down Zak's chin. Kara laughed loudly and leaned in to lick the sticky trail of liquor up to his lips. Lee tore his eyes away and filled his shot glass again.

Another drink. This one to how it could be better.

Lee didn't even remember falling asleep, but he woke up with sweat beading on his back. When had his shirt come off, anyway? He sat up, raking a hand through his hair and staring into the darkened living room. After a moment, his eyes fully adjusted to the darkness.

He hadn't slept long, his limbs still felt thick and slow under the influence of the whiskey. Maybe splashing some cold water onto his face would do him some good. He rose to his feet and stumbled his way over to the wall. With one arm braced for balance, he groped his way along until he found the door.

It took a second to realize he had pushed open the wrong door, and if Lee had been any kind of decent person he would have pulled it shut the moment he had, but he was completely and utterly transfixed by the sight before him.

He should have left the moment he opened the door. He most certainly shouldn’t have stood there watching, and if he had it should have been the single most embarrassing moment of his life.

Kara straddled Zak, the light from the streetlamps pouring in from the windows flashing gold against her skin, highlighting the swells and curves of her body as she moved. Lee could not tear his eyes away as he watched her rocking up and down, hips rolling, and making the most amazing breathy sounds as her head tipped back. Watching her frak his brother should not have been so utterly arousing.

But it was.

He stared in awe, as Zak reached up, his hand tangling in her blonde hair as he pulled himself up to kiss her. But then his lips traveled from her mouth over to her ear, and his eyes flicked toward Lee. Zak knew he was watching.

And now Kara did too.

Her head suddenly whipped around. Even in the dim light, she had a wicked glint in her eyes that Lee knew he would be powerless to resist.

"Never figured you for a voyeur, Lee," she said, voice low and full of lust.

He opened his mouth to speak but his throat was too dry to say anything. Kara shifted her hips, eliciting a sharp groan from Zak. Jealousy and arousal warred in his gut and he swallowed hard. "Not usually," he said lamely, trying hard to meet her eyes but his gaze swept down, tracing the swell of her breast and the curve of her hip.

"Then you're more of a hands-on kind of guy?" Her lip curved into the most devious grin.

Gods, how he wanted to touch her.

She was still looking at him expectantly, and his gut flipped as he realized her words had been an invitation.

Before he realized what he was doing, he had crossed the room, and had knelt behind Kara on the bed.

So close.

His hands hovered for a moment, barely an inch away and already feeling the heat from her skin. He didn’t look at Zak, tried to ignore the fact that Zak’s knee was barely inches from his own, but he could feel Zak’s eyes on him. The room had gone completely silent with everyone just waiting for Lee to make move.

He couldn’t. It was Kara who finally broke the tableau, taking Lee’s hands in hers and pressing them against her hips. Her skin was softer than he had imagined it, and he let his fingers brush up the curve of her waist. Beneath his touch, she started to move again, rocking slowly as he traced gentle lines over her sides.

Suddenly it dawned on him that this wasn't some crazy alcohol-induced dream. This was real. He was touching her, and now he wasn't going to be able to stop himself. His hands closed over Kara's hips, cupping her waist and she started moving faster. She made more of those soft, breathy little sounds as her hips rolled, and Lee could feel the shift of every muscle as she moved. Curiosity piqued, his hands slipped around to her stomach and up, cupping each breast.

She was moaning now, rocking harder and faster as he rubbed his thumbs over the hardened peaks of her nipples. Encouraged, emboldened by the buzz of alcohol in his veins, Lee slid one hand down between her legs. He could feel, for a brief moment, where Zak slid in and out of her as she rode him hard and fast, but he didn't pull back, just pressed his fingers against her clit, letting her ride his hand as well until she was finally climaxing.

Coming apart in his hands.

Lee's phone buzzed for the third time at noon. He rolled over, fumbled for the cell on the nightstand, and declined the call. He didn't need to look at the display to know it was Zak calling. Rolling onto his back, Lee scrubbed a hand over his face as he stared up at the hotel room ceiling.

Frak.

He should have just come back here after the movie. If he hadn't stayed, he wouldn't have gotten drunk. If he hadn't gotten drunk, he wouldn't have walked in on Zak and Kara in bed together. If he hadn't walked in on them together, he would have never... joined them.

Lee closed his eyes as the memory swam up in his mind again. He remembered the way Kara's skin felt under his hands, soft and hot and slick with sweat and the way she trembled and moaned--better than he'd ever imagined. Not that he imagined what his brother's girlfriend looked like when she climaxed. Consciously. Very often.

Maybe they could just write it off as a drunken night and forget about it. Maybe they could just forget the luscious grin Kara gave him as she came down from her high. "Switch," she'd told Zak. Maybe he could forget about the feeling of Kara's mouth, hot and wet on his cock as Zak frakked her from behind.

Lee shook his head and rolled out of bed, tossing the covers aside. He made his way over to the bathroom and let the water run icy before stepping under the spray. He stayed there until his skin was taut and every hair on his body stood on end. He toweled himself off, dressed, and made a pot of cheap hotel coffee, which he drank with a grimace.

Then his phone buzzed again. He sighed. He couldn’t ignore it forever. Lee walked back over to the nightstand and picked it up. Zak's name flashed boldly on the display. Pretend it never happened. "Hello," he said.

"Hey! There you are. I was starting to worry you'd fallen in a ditch or something."

Lee felt a small bubble of relief in his chest. Maybe Zak had been so drunk he had actually forgotten the whole thing. "No. I'm alright, I just needed some sleep."

"What? The couch not good enough for you?" Zak teased.

"I woke up in the middle of the night with a pain in my neck," he said, lamely. "So I-"

"So you thought you'd come see if there was room in Kara's bed?"

So much for forgetting the whole thing. Lee held the phone to his ear, jaw slack. As the silence stretched on, he thought he was supposed to say something, anything, but nothing came to mind. The nerves in his gut coiled, ready to spring to his defense but there was nothing to defend. There was no accusation in Zak's voice. In fact, he seemed incredibly calm.

"Bro, I'm starving. What do you say you treat me to lunch?"

They met fifteen minutes later at a hole-in-the-wall Tauron restaurant three blocks from Kara's apartment. It smelled like Grandpa Joe's kitchen, and the atmosphere in the room was just about as tense as it was when their father came to visit. Or maybe, Lee just felt that way.

"You know," Zak said, "that bed is big enough for three.” Lee blinked. It was not exactly the way he expected this conversation to open. “Believe me, we've tried it. It's a squeeze but it works."

"So... You and Kara and...?"

Zak shrugged. "We don't do it a lot. But sometimes we'll be at a bar and there will be a guy, or a girl, and it's just fun."

"And it doesn't bother you!?" Lee was surprised by how loud his voice sounded, even in the busy restaurant.

"Of course not. Because the next night, I'm the one Kara wants coming back to her bed."

Lee ran a hand through his hair and sat back. Zak's sex life was something Lee had made a point to actively not think about. He was his baby brother and he’d known they were doing things, but he just hadn't needed the details. Had he thought about it he certainly wouldn't have imagined it was anything so... adventurous. "So last night wasn't something...new?"

Zak gave him a strange smile. "Well, I usually don't have breakfast with other person the day after." He picked up his glass of water and took a sip. "Look, I know you, bro. You’ve been holed up in your hotel room going through some kind of guilt spiral because you think you did something wrong or immoral or whatever you tell yourself to make yourself miserable.” He grinned, shrugging. “So just don't, okay? You and Kara-“ Lee tensed. “The two of you have been going through this crazy mating ritual since the day I introduced you. I'm not blind."

The conversation was cut short by the waiter arriving with their orders. Ravenously, Zak attacked his meal, shoveling it in as though he hadn't seen food in the last week, but Lee could barely look at his plate. Gods, had it really been that obvious? The whole damned time?

"Zak, I'm sorry."

"But you don't have to be!" Zak said, chomping on a mouthful of food. "It’s okay. No one got hurt. It was just a little fun between consenting adults. Can't we just leave it at that?"

Lee turned to his meal and started eating so he couldn't say anything else. He wasn’t sure that he could just leave it at that. It had happened, but it could never happen again. As much of a sinking feeling that gave him, he could never let himself come between Kara and Zak again.

Mercifully, Zak changed the subject to the latest Pyramid scores.

It was half past six on a Friday afternoon and Lee wondered why in the worlds he was working late on the first day of the weekend. Of course, he didn't have any plans, no one to go home to, and nothing more interesting than catching the C-Bucs game on the TV.

Lee sighed and looked up from the case he was studying, just as his phone buzzed in his pocket. He fished it out to find a text message from Kara. Coming tonight?

Delphi was a 90-minute ride from Caprica City. If he really floored it, and there was no traffic, he could make it in 70. Wasn't planning on making the trip.

Doesn't answer my question.

Frak. Lee felt a sudden rush of heat shooting straight to his groin. Not sure, he typed, pausing, then added, Long drive for a movie. He put the phone aside and willed himself to focus on the paperwork in front of him, but less than a minute later, the phone buzzed again.

It’ll be worth it.

He blinked, blood heating. Was she implying what he thought she was implying? His fingers flew over the keys. That a promise?

Seconds ticked by endlessly till his phone buzzed again. He actually held his breath as he pressed the button to see her response. It was only one word.

Yes

Lee’s breath rushed out in a heavy exhale. Kara was actually inviting him over again. For sex. Sex with her and Zak.

He swallowed and set his phone aside, willing himself to think rationally for a moment. Lee had never particularly thought of himself as incredibly adventurous, sexually speaking. Romantic and faithful, yes. And never in a million years would he have entertained the thought of being in a sexual situation with his own brother.

But this was Kara Thrace, and somehow her presence warped things in his mind. Since the first second he’d met her, their eyes connecting as she swung open the door to her rattrap apartment, black and white had blurred around her to a swirling gray morass, a maelstrom threatening to overwhelm him at any moment, pull him under, pull him in to the space where she lived. And he wasn't so sure he could resist it anymore. Wasn’t sure he even wanted to try.

Lee took another breath, picked up the phone and typed quickly. See you in an hour.
